Jim Skinner is a United States Air Force veteran, law-enforcement professional, and dedicated community leader who has built his life around service. During eight years of active duty in the Air Force, Jim completed three deployments and developed the discipline, leadership, and commitment to mission that continue to guide him today.
Jim served as the Town Marshal of Greentown from 2014 to 2020. In that role, he worked to modernize department equipment, technology, and operations while keeping public safety and responsible use of taxpayer dollars at the center of every decision. He joined the Howard County Sheriff’s Office in 2021 and currently serves as a supervisor on afternoon shift.
Since 2021, Jim has also represented his neighbors on the Greentown Town Council. His experience in public safety, budgeting, infrastructure, and local-government decision-making gives him a practical understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the town.
As a Greentown resident, Jim is committed to preserving the small-town values that make the community special while supporting responsible growth and thoughtful planning for the future. He believes local government should be accountable, accessible, and focused on serving the people of Greentown.
